Types of Treatment

Here at Medowie Family & Sports Physio we offer a wide range of treatments to help restore and maximise functional movement.

Mike and Kevin will provide assessment and treatment to people of all ages, from children through to the elderly population, with a primary focus on musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports based rehabilitation. We also offer services for neurological and cardiorespiratory based conditions.
The key to successful Physiotherapy treatment is to have expertise in a variety of techniques. Nothing works for everyone. Some of the treatment techniques utilised by us include

Physiotherapy

Medowie Physio Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy focuses on restoring and optimising an individual’s functional movement, through the use of joint mobilisation, massage, strengthening, stretching and exercise prescription. Physiotherapy uses evidence based assessments and treatments for a range of diseases, conditions and injuries and is proven to be both clinically effective and cost effective.

Medowie Family & Sports Physio is committed to the highest standard of treatment, and as such we are continually involved in further education and upskilling wherever we can.
At Medowie Family & Sports Physio you can be assured of quality treatment.

Credentialed McKenzie Therapist

Medowie Physio | Credentialed McKenzie |

Mike has been a credentialed McKenzie therapist since 2010. This form of treatment is best explained on their website:

“The system of patient care known as the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) is an approach that is trusted and used by clinicians and patients all over the world for common back, neck and extremity joint problems.

Most musculoskeletal pain is "mechanical" in origin, meaning that every day movements and postures cause pain. By a systematic evaluation of his patients, New Zealand physiotherapist Robin McKenzie, found that certain movements and postures can often abolish pain and restore function.

Robin McKenzie believed that most patients could learn to treat themselves if taught correctly. He felt that self-treatment empowered the patient and reduced their dependency on medical intervention. The McKenzie Method® promotes the body's potential to heal itself without medication, surgery or other passive modalities such as heat, ice or ultrasound therapy. It also addresses a growing demand from patients and third party payers for professional rehabilitation services that develop the patient's self-treatment skills in a cost-effective and time-effective manner.”
